We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and hands-on General Manager to lead our busy pub nestled in the countryside of Dorset. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about hospitality, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and leading a high-performing team. The Doghouse is a fresh and exciting pub serving modern British cuisine with a strong focus on local and seasonal produce, winning dorset pub of the year, being featured on Topjaw and being added to the Michelin guide- The Doghouse is an ever growing company with room for progression and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the pub, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
- Deliver outstanding customer service and create a welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
- Recruit, train, motivate, and manage a team of front and back-of-house staff.
- Manage staff rotas, performance, and ongoing development.
- Drive sales and profitability by identifying opportunities to grow revenue and control costs.
- Monitor stock levels, place orders, and minimize waste.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing laws, food safety regulations, and health and safety standards.
- Manage budgets, cash handling, banking, and financial reporting.
- Plan and deliver successful events, promotions, and entertainment to increase footfall.
- Build strong relationships with customers and the local community.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and maintenance throughout the premises.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- 10+ years previous experience managing a pub, bar, or hospitality venue within a similar role
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Good financial and commercial awareness.
- Knowledge of licensing legislation, food hygiene, and health and safety requirements.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and solve problems effectively.
- A flexible approach, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
