Job Title: Part-Time Handyman / Maintenance Worker
Location: Newford Nursing Home, Stoke-on-Trent, ST2 7EQ
Hours: 20 hours per week
Monday & Tuesday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (£17.00 per hour)
Saturday: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm (£18.00 per hour)
Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable Handyman to maintain our nursing home. You will ensure a safe, comfortable, and fully operational environment for our residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities
General Repairs: Fix minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical issues.
Safety Checks: Inspect water temperatures, fire alarms, and emergency lighting.
Grounds Maintenance & Gardening : Trimming hedge etc.
Painting & Decorating: Touch up paintwork in residents' rooms and communal areas.
Furniture Assembly: Set up or move furniture and equipment safely.
Reporting: Log completed tasks and report major issues to management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Handyman Skills: Proven experience in basic plumbing, carpentry, tiling, and painting.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify faults and fix them efficiently.
Communication Skills: Clear English to interact warmly with elderly residents.
Time Management: Ability to work independently and manage a Daily Task List.
Health & Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safe working practices.
Background Check: Must pass an Enhanced DBS check (statutory regulation, we will help).
