About the Role
As Registered Manager, you will provide inspirational leadership to our four-bed children’s home, creating a culture where children flourish, staff feel valued and high standards become the norm.
This is far more than a compliance role. You will be responsible for creating a home where children experience genuine belonging, stability and positive childhood memories, whilst ensuring the service consistently exceeds the requirements of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted expectations.
Working alongside the Responsible Individual, Operations Manager and our therapeutic team, you will lead a motivated staff team to deliver exceptional care that is ambitious, child-centred and relational.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing strong, visible leadership and creating a positive, values-led culture where children and staff can thrive.
- Ensuring every child receives safe, individualised, trauma-informed care that promotes emotional wellbeing, education, independence and positive life outcomes.
- Developing a highly skilled and motivated workforce through coaching, supervision, reflective practice and continuous professional development.
- Maintaining effective oversight of care planning, behaviour support plans, risk assessments and safeguarding practice to ensure they remain dynamic, child-focused and outcome-driven.
- Ensuring the home consistently meets and exceeds regulatory requirements, preparing confidently for Ofsted inspections and quality assurance visits.
- Promoting children’s voices, participation and rights, ensuring young people actively influence decisions about their lives and their home.
- Building strong, professional relationships with local authorities, education providers, health professionals, families and other partner agencies.
- Taking responsibility for workforce planning, safer staffing, rota management, budget oversight and the effective day-to-day operation of the home.
- Driving continuous quality improvement through effective auditing, reflective learning and a commitment to excellence in everything we do.
- Participating in the management on-call rota and providing calm, confident leadership during incidents and safeguarding matters.
About You

Essential Skills and Experience
- A proven ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams within children’s residential care.
- Extensive knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding legislation and Ofsted inspection frameworks.
- Significant experience in safeguarding, risk management, care planning and supporting children with complex emotional, behavioural and mental health needs.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with children, families, colleagues and partner agencies.
- Strong organisational skills with experience in quality assurance, record keeping, report writing and performance management.
- Financial awareness and experience managing staffing resources, rotas and operational budgets effectively.
- Confidence in leading inspections, managing regulatory compliance and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
- Flexibility to participate in an on-call rota and provide leadership outside normal working hours when required.
Qualifications
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to achieve within the required timescales.
- A recognised qualification relevant to working with children and young people.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable.

What You’ll Bring
- A recognised qualification in health/social care & Level 5 Leadership and Management in Residential Childcare (or working towards it)
- At least 2 years experience in children’s residential care and leading teams
- A deep understanding of trauma, mental health, and attachment theory
- A strong safeguarding ethos, and a drive to always do better
- Confidence, emotional resilience, and a wicked sense of humour wouldn’t hurt either!
