Role Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team at Patons Accident Repair Centre. This is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day financial operations of a busy accident repair centre. You will be responsible for accurate transaction posting, maintaining key financial records, and assisting with credit control to ensure smooth cash flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Post customer payments accurately and promptly to the sales/accounts receivable ledger.
- Process and post purchase invoices and supplier payments to the purchase ledger.
- Maintain and write up cash books, recording all receipts and payments.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
- Support credit control activities, including monitoring overdue accounts, issuing statements/reminders, and following up with customers as required.
- Assist with general accounts administration and any other finance-related duties as needed.
Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience in a similar accounts or bookkeeping role (ideally within a garage, motor trade, or SME environment).
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Competent with accounting software/packages and Microsoft Excel.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
- Clear communication skills for dealing with customers and suppliers regarding payments.
- A proactive, reliable approach with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
