AW Construction is a Folkestone-based construction company delivering a broad range of commercial construction projects across the South East of England and London. Our works are predominantly strip out, refurbishment, fit out and basic build, working with universities, shopping centres, housing associations, light industrial units and a wide range of public and private sector organisations.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking to appoint an experienced Bid Writer / Bid Administrator to join our expanding team.
Based at our Folkestone office, the successful candidate will support our pre-construction team, coordinating and producing high-quality tender submissions for new projects and frameworks.
Construction industry experience and a good understanding of construction terminology, processes and project delivery are essential. We are looking for someone who can understand tender requirements, work effectively with our estimating and operational teams, and turn technical information into clear, professional and persuasive submissions.
For a suitable candidate, the role may also incorporate elements of business development, including identifying new opportunities, prospective clients and frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Bid Writing & Tender Coordination
· Review tender documentation and identify key requirements, deadlines and deliverables.
· Write clear and persuasive responses to tender quality questions.
· Work with directors, estimators, QSs and operational teams to gather technical and project information.
· Coordinate and compile complete, compliant tender submissions.
· Prepare and maintain case studies, project experience, CVs and supporting bid content.
· Assist with framework applications, PQQs, SQs and approved contractor submissions.
· Review submissions for quality, consistency and compliance.
Bid Administration
· Monitor tender portals and other sources for suitable opportunities.
· Organise tender documentation and manage deadlines, clarifications and submission requirements.
· Maintain a library of standard responses, case studies and supporting evidence.
· Track tender submissions, outcomes and client feedback.
· Assist with presentations and other pre-construction documentation where required.
Business Development – Depending on Experience
For the right candidate, the role may also include:
· Researching prospective clients, projects and market opportunities.
· Identifying suitable frameworks and procurement opportunities.
· Supporting relationships with existing and prospective clients and consultants.
· Assisting with targeted approaches to potential new clients.
· Working with the company director to identify target clients, sectors and areas for growth.
Key Skills & Experience
· Construction industry experience and knowledge is essential.
· Previous bid writing, bid coordination, tender administration or similar construction-based experience.
· Good understanding of construction terminology, project delivery and tendering.
· Excellent written English and the ability to produce clear and persuasive tender responses.
· Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
· Confidence working with estimating, commercial and operational teams.
· Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
· Experience with public sector procurement, frameworks and tender portals would be advantageous.
· Business development experience would be beneficial for candidates interested in the wider scope of the role.
· Professional, proactive and self-motivated.

We are looking for someone who understands construction and combines that knowledge with strong writing, organisation and attention to detail.
You may already be working as a Bid Writer, Bid Coordinator or Bid Administrator within a contractor or construction-related business, or be in another construction role where you have developed strong tendering and written communication skills.
