Job Overview
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Credit Controller to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the organisation’s credit processes, ensuring timely collection of outstanding payments, and maintaining positive relationships with clients. Duties
- Monitor and manage customer accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding debts
- Contact clients via telephone, email, or letter to follow up on overdue payments
- Maintain accurate records of all collection activities using accounting software
- Analyse customer accounts to identify potential credit risks and escalate issues as necessary
- Collaborate with the sales and finance teams to resolve billing discrepancies and disputes
- Conduct data entry related to account status updates and payment histories
- Assist in the preparation of reports on receivables and ageing analysis for management review
- Support accounts payable processes where required, ensuring smooth financial operations
- Utilise telemarketing skills to communicate effectively with clients and negotiate payment arrangements
- Uphold professional phone etiquette when liaising with clients and internal teams
- Ability to understand escalation methods including CCJ‘s and other legal processing
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a similar role within financial services or credit control environment
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret financial data accurately
- Familiarity with accounting software and data entry procedures
- Excellent communication skills, demonstrating professional phone etiquette and interpersonal abilities
- Knowledge of accounts payable processes is advantageous but not essential
- Experience in telemarketing or customer outreach is desirable
- Organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
