Experienced Children's Support Workers – Complex Care Package (Watford)
We are looking for experienced and compassionate Children's Support Workers to join our team, supporting a child with complex care needs within their family home in Watford.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a developing care package, working alongside an established multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, person-centred support. We are seeking dedicated professionals who are passionate about delivering safe, consistent, and compassionate care while promoting the child's wellbeing, independence, and quality of life.
The successful candidates will work closely with the family, clinical professionals, and wider care team to ensure the child receives the highest standard of support in a safe, nurturing, and respectful environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred care in accordance with the child's care plan and clinical guidance.
- Support the child's daily routines, personal care, and overall wellbeing while promoting dignity and independence.
- Build positive, professional relationships with the child, family members, and multidisciplinary professionals.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily records, incident reporting, and communication logs.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in the child's presentation, escalating concerns where necessary.
- Promote safeguarding, safety, and the welfare of the child at all times.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, case managers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow all organisational policies, clinical protocols, and best practice standards.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with complex care, additional needs, or disabilities.
- Experience working within community, home care, children's services, or healthcare settings.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and person-centred care.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work professionally with families and multidisciplinary teams.
- A calm, compassionate, and reliable approach to delivering care.
- Flexibility to work waking nights and weekend shifts.
Desirable
- Experience supporting children with complex health needs.
- Relevant training including safeguarding, moving and handling, medication administration, or clinical competencies.
- Full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential).
Available Shifts
During the school holidays, the following shifts are available on a two-week rolling rota:
Week 1
- Waking Nights: Thursday, Saturday & Sunday – 10:00pm to 7:00am (9-hour shifts)
- Days: Saturday & Sunday – 7:00am to 5:00pm (10-hour shifts)
- Evenings: Saturday & Sunday – 5:00pm to 10:00pm (5-hour shifts)
Week 2
- Waking Nights: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday – 10:00pm to 7:00am (9-hour shifts)
- Days: Saturday & Sunday – 7:00am to 5:00pm (10-hour shifts)
- Evenings: Saturday & Sunday – 5:00pm to 10:00pm (5-hour shifts)
Additional hours may become available as the care package develops.
Important Information
This is a specialist role supporting a child with complex care needs in the community. We are seeking applicants with relevant experience in children's care, complex care, community care, healthcare support, or similar settings. Applications from candidates without appropriate experience may not be considered.
Pay: £16.65-£20.00 per hour
