Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Young Carers Education Worker to empower young individuals who provide care for family members or loved ones. In this vital role, you will help raise awareness and understanding of Young Carer's issues with school staff and pupils. You will work to achieve better integrated support for young carer's. You will ensure Young Carer's and their families have increased knowledge of the services available to them.
Main Responsibilities
- To compile and deliver a presentation to teachers, guidance staff and home link workers within school, which will raise awareness of Young Carers and the issues they face
- To compile and deliver a presentation to pupils within Primary and Secondary schools in Renfrewshire to identify hidden Young Carer's and raise awareness
- To develop a range of resources including workshop materials and information packs to work with teachers and pupils
- To provide staff with knowledge of how to identify Young Carer's.
- To provide staff with the tools to support Young Carer's
- To provide teaching staff with tools, which will fit into the curriculum of excellence to teach pupils about the issue facing Young Carer's
- To network with other organisations both statutory and voluntary to find out about services and supports that are available for young Carers.
- To set up a referral pathway for Young Carer's with the school
- To compile and maintain a database of all Young Carer's identified and pass the referral on to the YC Development worker
- Prepare a work plan
- Monitor and evaluate work. Compile and maintain records of work completed
Please note the salary listed is the full time salary. This position is for 20 hours a week and the salary will be pro-rata. This role is currently funded until 30 June 2027
Pay: £25,001.00-£26,585.00 per year
