About the role
We are looking for a Partnerships & Referrals Officer to join our Positive Futures team.
This is a varied role at the heart of how we manage referrals, build relationships with local authorities and make sure children and young people are matched to services that can meet their needs.
Working closely with our Head of Growth and Success, you will manage referral enquiries from initial contact through to decision and placement, maintain strong day-to-day relationships with commissioners and placements teams, and make sure referral information is accurate, timely and well-coordinated.
You will need to be organised, confident communicating with different professionals and comfortable working with detailed information where decisions can have a significant impact on children and young people.
What you'll be doing
- Managing and coordinating referrals from local authorities and other partners.
- Gathering and reviewing referral information, including needs, risks, suitability and service capacity.
- Supporting safe and appropriate matching and progressing referrals in line with agreed processes.
- Keeping commissioners and internal teams updated throughout the referral process.
- Building positive day-to-day relationships with commissioning and placements teams.
- Maintaining accurate referral, vacancy, placement and commissioner information.
- Monitoring referral and pipeline activity, including conversion rates, referral sources and timescales.
- Escalating complex or higher-risk referrals appropriately.
- Supporting commissioner meetings, provider forums and other external activity.
- Using referral data and feedback to help improve how we work and identify opportunities for growth.
About you
You may already work within children’s social care, supported accommodation or commissioning, or you may have strong experience working with children in a referral, coordination or stakeholder-facing role.
We are looking for someone who:
- Understands the importance of safe and appropriate matching for children and young people.
- Can build professional relationships with commissioners, social workers and internal managers.
- Is highly organised and able to manage several referrals and priorities at the same time.
- Communicates confidently and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Has strong attention to detail and can work accurately with sensitive information.
- Is comfortable using spreadsheets, databases, CRM systems and other digital tools.
- Understands confidentiality, safeguarding and the importance of handling information appropriately.
- Takes ownership, follows things through and works well as part of a wider team.
