As part of its continued growth, ABC Cargo is expanding into the e-commerce sector and is seeking an experienced E-commerce Operations & Business Development Manager to lead this exciting new division. The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for driving the growth of the company's e-commerce operations while identifying new business opportunities and developing long-term commercial partnerships.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, commercially driven professional who has a strong background in e-commerce, business development, and operational management. You will play a key role in building sustainable client relationships, improving operational performance, and supporting the continued expansion of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to grow the company's e-commerce operations.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities, partnerships, and distribution channels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
- Develop a sustainable sales pipeline and drive business growth.
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the e-commerce division.
- Monitor order processing, customer service, returns, and refunds to ensure high service standards.
- Analyse sales performance and prepare regular reports to support business decisions.
- Develop pricing and promotional strategies to maximise revenue and profitability.
- Monitor inventory, stock levels, operational costs, profit margins, and return on investment (ROI).
- Conduct market research to identify industry trends, customer needs, and competitor activity.
- Prepare commercial proposals and support contract negotiations.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and implement best practices.
- Work closely with senior management to develop and deliver strategic business objectives.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Minimum 6–8 years' experience in e-commerce operations and business development.
- Proven track record of driving business growth and generating new commercial opportunities.
- Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience managing e-commerce platforms and online marketplaces.
- Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
- Experience monitoring sales performance and producing business reports.
- Strong understanding of inventory management and operational processes.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
Desirable
- Experience within cargo logistics, freight forwarding, customs clearance, or international shipping.
- Knowledge of cross-border e-commerce logistics.
- Understanding of import/export procedures and customs compliance.
- Experience working with international supply chains and fulfilment operations.
