Duties
- Assist classroom teachers with daily instructional activities and classroom management
- Support students with disabilities, including those with autism, by providing personalized assistance and encouragement
- Help implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet each student’s unique learning goals
- Engage students through tutoring, mentoring, and social interaction to promote confidence and independence
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to ensure consistent support
- Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other non-instructional times
- Assist in preparing educational materials and setting up learning stations to enhance classroom activities
- Will be DBS checked!
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings is highly desirable
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or special education needs is a strong plus
- Knowledge of teaching techniques tailored for children with autism or other developmental challenges is beneficial
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff
- Background in tutoring or mentoring roles that foster student growth and confidence
- Passion for creating inclusive environments that support diverse learning styles and needs
