The Role
We are seeking an experienced & motivated Land & Engineering Surveyor to join our team.
This role involves carrying out a range of surveying activities, including Topographic, River, Confined Space, Drone, Hydrographic, Laser Scanning, Monitoring, Service Tracing, Building & Engineering Surveys for a diverse range of clients.
Experience in Ground Penetrating Radar & Utility detection & mapping would be an advantage.
You will travel to sites throughout the UK & conduct surveys to a high technical standard; Process & collate survey data using AutoCAD & relevant software; deliver clear & accurate survey outputs to clients.
Work is throughout SW England & beyond, meaning some of the work can involve early starts & may require overnight stays. There will also be occasions where you will work from home processing data.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct Land & Engineering surveys across a variety of sites using GPS, Total Stations & related survey equipment
· Produce CAD drawings (2D/3D) using software such as AutoCAD or similar
· Process & interpret Survey data to produce detailed drawings & reports meeting client requirements, using industry-standard software.
· Ensure all work is completed to required standards & specifications & in line with Health & Safety regulations
· Liaise with clients, contractors & Project Managers meaning good communication skills are vital in this role.
· Work as part of a small team with the ability to delegate as well as carry out tasks & manage a job on site with a positive & proactive attitude.
· The ability to problem solve & show initiative as each site can present new challenges.
· Maintain survey equipment & ensure calibration standards are met
· Follow UK Health & Safety regulations, including HSG47 (Avoiding Danger from Underground Services)
Required Qualifications & Experience:
· Proven experience as a Land Surveyor (Minimum 1 year)
· Hands-on experience using survey equipment & interpreting results (GPR, GPS, Total Stations etc)
· Proficiency with surveying instruments (e.g., Total Stations, GPS) & a good understanding of survey accuracy & tolerances.
· Experience with relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, surveying packages)
· Strong attention to detail & problem-solving skills
· Ability to work independently & manage time effectively
· Physcially able to work outdoors in all weather conditions carrying equipment
· Good IT & communication skills
· Able to swim 50 metres
· Full UK driving licence (or equivalent)
· Able to pass random Drug & Alcohol tests as required when working on sites
· Able to stay away from home overnight if required
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
· Relevant qualifications in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field
· Experience working in utilities, construction, or infrastructure projects
· CSCS card (relevant level)
· First Aid at Work certification
