Job Advert Description
Applications are invited from experienced investigators for ‘Key Role’ positions within the Major Crime Investigation Team. These roles offer a unique opportunity to contribute to the investigation of the most serious and complex crimes, supporting major inquiries and delivering high-quality investigative support as part of a dynamic and professional team.
The role will involve the investigation of serious and complex major crime, working in key roles within Major Incident Rooms and when necessary, the Casualty Bureau.
The main duties of the post holder will consist of performing key roles within the MIR which include Receiver, Action Allocator, Reader, Exhibits Officer, Disclosure Officer, CCTV investigation/retrieval/viewing, statement taking and House to House enquiries/ Coordination. The post will also attract additional designated powers to enable a wider range of functions. These will include powers to search premises and seize exhibits, obtain search warrants from the Court, interview suspects and apply special warnings as well as powers relating to the transfer and search of detainees if appropriate.
Applicants must be flexible and willing to work long hours as required at short notice. There will be a requirement to provide weekend cover and afternoon cover on a rota basis for which the relevant shift entitlement will be paid.
The posts will be based in the Kingsway Bridgend however there may be a requirement to deploy across the force area. You will be required to drive plain vehicles as part of your role and will undertake any required driver training assessment to do so.

Essential skills
Previous investigative experience.
Report writing, and awareness of casefile preparation.
Working knowledge of NICHE.
Proficient in Microsoft applications
Level 0 and Level 1 College Learn CCTV training package
Working knowledge of Nice Investigate
Desirable skills
PIP2 accreditation.
Working knowledge of HOLMES is desirable. HOLMES training will be provided.
The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to RV Vetting.
