At Artemis Children’s Homes, we are creating homes where children can feel safe enough to be themselves.
We are looking for Residential Childcare Workers to join our therapeutic home for up to two children. We keep our homes intentionally small so that relationships come first. Our homes are designed with purpose, to feel calm, predictable, and safe, because we believe children only begin to feel secure when the adults around them are steady, consistent, and emotionally available.
You will be supported to work in a reflective, trauma-informed way, with regular supervision, space to think, and ongoing training.
Salary: £32,160-£34,080 per year (depending on qualification)
Rota
2 on 4 off rota shift pattern (16hrs) including sleep-in shifts
The Role
You will be part of a small, consistent team supporting up to two children in a calm, structured environment.
This includes:
- Providing day-to-day care and emotional support
- Building safe, trusting relationships
- Supporting children through distress using de-escalation
- Maintaining clear, consistent boundaries
- Working in a trauma-informed way

Responsibilities
- Supporting children with daily routines in a way that promotes independence, dignity, and self-esteem
- Creating a safe, predictable, and nurturing home environment
- Supporting education, routines, and meaningful day-to-day experiences (including school, activities, and family time)
- Following and contributing to care plans, ensuring consistency in approach
- Recording and sharing observations in a clear, professional, and reflective way
- Working as part of a team to identify patterns, risks, and progress over time
- Maintaining a safe environment by recognising and responding to potential risks
Skills & Experience
- Experience working with children in a residential or care setting is essential
- A full UK driving licence is essential
- Ability to communicate clearly and build positive relationships
- Understanding (or willingness to learn) trauma-informed practice
- Ability to follow structure and routines while remaining emotionally responsive
- Basic IT skills for recording and communication
- Supporting education, routines, and meaningful day-to-day experiences (including school, activities, and family time)
- Following and contributing to care plans, ensuring consistency in approach
- Recording and sharing observations in a clear, professional, and reflective way
- Working as part of a team to identify patterns, risks, and progress over time
- Maintaining a safe environment by recognising and responding to potential risk
This role is not about “managing behaviour.”
It is about building relationships that children can trust.
Pay: £32,160.00-£34,080.00 per year
