Residential Children’s Worker
Location: Wallasey, Merseyside
Salary: Up to £38,450 per annum (inclusive of sleep-ins)
Hours: Permanent, full-time - 40 hours per week
Shire are working in partnership with a children’s residential care provider to recruit a Residential Children’s Worker for a home in Wallasey, Merseyside.
You will join a supportive and experienced team providing high-quality care to children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). You will also have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced Manager who has led Outstanding-rated children’s homes.

What we’re ideally looking for
- Previous experience supporting children with EBD and/or learning disabilities
- A full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to work a shift pattern, including sleep-ins
- A genuine commitment to supporting children and young people
- Willingness to work towards the Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare if not already completed
The Role
As a Residential Children’s Worker, you will provide consistent, nurturing and person-centred support while helping children develop their independence, confidence and life skills.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing individualised support based on each child’s needs and care plan
- Supporting children with all aspects of day-to-day living
- Building positive, trusting and professional relationships with the children
- Encouraging children to maintain positive relationships with family and friends
- Supporting participation in hobbies, clubs, education and community activities
- Promoting independence, confidence and positive outcomes
- Safeguarding children and reporting any concerns appropriately
- Working closely with parents, carers and other professionals
- Completing relevant records and contributing to care planning
- Participating in training and continuous professional development
- Providing support at other homes when required
