About the Role
Power Tutors is seeking a warm, trauma-informed KS2 tutor to deliver personalised home-based education for a primary-age pupil in Caterham, CR3. This is a rewarding, relationship-led role supporting a young person with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and offers up to 15 hours of work per week during term time.
What You'll Be Doing
- Delivering structured, flexible, one-to-one KS2 Maths and English sessions at the pupil's home
- Using a trauma-informed, attachment-aware approach to build trust and reduce anxiety around learning
- Adapting sessions in real time based on the pupil's emotional and sensory state
- Implementing visual supports, clear routines, and practical hands-on activities
- Providing co-regulation support and de-escalation when needed
- Communicating regularly with the Power Tutors team and client
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children with SEMH needs, complex trauma, or challenging behaviour
- Confidence managing emotional dysregulation calmly and safely
- A relational, non-confrontational teaching style
- Strong safeguarding awareness
- Relevant teaching or specialist support qualification desirable (QTS, HLTA, or equivalent)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
