Sabatini, Exeter
Sabatini is looking for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their food, enjoys working as part of a team, and can help lead the kitchen to consistently deliver high-quality dishes in a busy restaurant environment.
The Role
As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to manage the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, consistency and service are maintained at all times.
You will play an important role in supporting and motivating the kitchen team, helping to maintain an organised and efficient kitchen while ensuring every dish leaving the pass meets Sabatini’s standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef with the daily running of the kitchen.
- Lead and motivate the kitchen team during busy services.
- Prepare, cook and present dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Ensure food quality, presentation and portion control are maintained.
- Assist with menu preparation and development where required.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene, health and safety standards.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock rotation.
- Minimise food waste and maintain good kitchen cost control.
- Ensure the kitchen is clean, organised and fully prepared for service.
- Train and support junior members of the kitchen team.
- Take responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
- Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a senior Chef position.
- Strong knowledge of professional kitchen operations.
- Excellent food preparation and cooking skills.
- The ability to remain calm and organised under pressure.
- Good leadership and communication skills.
- A strong understanding of food hygiene and health & safety.
- A genuine passion for food and maintaining high standards.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A flexible and positive attitude.
- The ambition to develop their skills and progress within the business.

Pay: £13.50-£14.50 per hour
