FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Communications Lead (Active SC Clearance Required) to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially an 8-month contract with the potential to extend, and will be a predominantly remote role with occasional travel into London or Manchester.
We are seeking an experienced Communications Lead to support the delivery of a high-profile data classification and labelling programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy that ensures users understand what labels are, why they matter, and what actions they need to take.
Working across a complex stakeholder landscape, you will create clear, engaging, and targeted communications that drive awareness, understanding, and compliance. You will partner closely with programme teams, leadership, technical stakeholders, and end users to ensure messaging is consistent, timely, and aligned with business objectives. Due to the nature of the work, candidates must hold active Security Clearance (SC).
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver an end-to-end communications plan and communications calendar to support the rollout of data labelling and information protection initiatives.
- Create and maintain a core messaging framework covering the rationale for change, what is changing, implementation timelines, and user impacts.
- Develop and produce communications materials across multiple channels, including emails, intranet content, FAQs, leadership briefings, and desk aids.
- Deliver tailored communications for different stakeholder groups, including executives, senior leaders, managers, frontline employees, and technical teams.
- Partner with programme, project, and change management teams to ensure communications are aligned with wider adoption and engagement activities.
- Translate technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly messaging for non-technical audiences.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement activities to gather feedback and ensure messaging remains relevant and effective.
- Establish communication governance and approval processes to maintain consistency and quality.
- Monitor communication effectiveness through engagement metrics, user feedback, and adoption indicators.
- Produce regular reporting on communication performance, risks, and recommendations for improvement.
- Support senior leaders with key messages, briefing packs, presentations, and talking points.
- Ensure all communications comply with organisational standards, governance requirements, and security policies.
