Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Children/Young Person Support Worker who is self-employed and eager to make a positive impact in young lives. In this role, you will provide tailored support to children and young people, on a 2:1 basis, fostering their development, safety, and well-being. Your energetic approach will help create a nurturing environment where young individuals can thrive, grow confidence, and achieve their goals. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to work directly with children in various settings, ensuring they receive the care and guidance they need to succeed.
Duties
- Deliver personalized support sessions to children and young people based on individual care plans
- Build trusting relationships through effective communication, active listening, and positive engagement
- Assist with daily activities, including childcare routines, homework support, and social skills development
- Maintain accurate records of each child's progress, behavior, and any incidents in accordance with organizational policies
- Support transportation needs by driving children safely to appointments, activities, or school when required
- Collaborate with families, social workers, and other professionals to ensure cohesive support strategies
- Follow safeguarding procedures diligently to protect the welfare of children at all times
- The role will require flexible working hours including weekends, evenings, nights and bank holidays
Qualifications
- Qualified to NVQ Level 4 in Young People and Families Practice, or willing to work towards achieving this qualification
- Proven experience working with children or young people in a childcare or support role
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, families, and team members
- Knowledge of child development principles and the ability to create supportive care plans
- Competence in using IT systems for record keeping and communication purposes
- Valid Driving Licence is prefareable
- A satisfactory DBS check will be required, preferably on the DBS Update Service
- Ability to work independently as a self-employed professional while adhering to safety standards and best practices
Sleep-In and Shift Requirements
This role requires flexibility to work a rota that includes early mornings, evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays, sleep-in duties, and participation in an on-call rota.
Sleep-in duties form an essential part of the role and are paid in addition to your salary (£60/night).
