Work base: Nant BH Outdoor Education Centre
Nant BH Outdoor Education Centre is one of two residential Centres which make up the North Wales Outdoor Education Service. The Centre is situated in the Gwydir Forest, near Betws y Coed, in the Snowdonia National Park. The Centre delivers a range of residential and day outdoor education courses for primary and secondary aged students.
Due to the retirement of the long-standing previous manager, we have now split the maintenance post between the two centres and are looking for someone to take on the role of facilities manager at Nant BH Centre, and to oversee the facilities role at Pentrellyncymer. The role covers managing a fleet of minibuses, ensuring all aspects of the buildings and grounds meet current best practice and safety regulations, organising contractors for repairs and maintenance, managing the support staff of cooks and cleaners, and being able to support the delivery of the courses by ensuring the buses and centres are ready and in good repair, and having an understanding of the needs of the courses being delivered. Some qualifications / experience in relation to buildings and vehicle management should be held, together with the ability to drive a minibus (D1+E licence). The post is 22.2 hours per week, with an expectation to split that over 3 to 5 days of the week. The exact working pattern to be agreed by the Head of Centre. The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable.
