Management Accountant | £45,000 - £50,000 | Hereford
We are partnering with a highly structured, quality-driven business seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join their established finance team.
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role offers a great balance of core technical reporting, process governance, and commercial exposure. It is an ideal step for an organised accountant looking to own key financial outputs, mentor junior staff, and gain hands-on experience in bid reviews, financial controls, and cross-border stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the routine monthly accounting cycle, complete balance sheet reconciliations, and lead cash forecasting (including variance analysis).
- Provide initial approval on supplier payments, scrutinise employee expenses, oversee payroll reconciliations, and support internal/external audit activities.
- Act as a technical escalation point and support the development of the Trainee Accountant and Accounts Assistant.
- Assist the Financial Controller with commercial bid/deal reviews, budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc finance projects.
- Work closely with cross-functional internal teams, external auditors, suppliers, and an international finance review team.
Your Profile
- Experienced Management Accountant (Qualified, Finalist, or QBE) with strong technical and balance sheet reconciliation skills.
- Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working within a structured, compliant environment with controlled documentation.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel
- Experience coaching / mentoring is highly desirable
