We are looking for a passionate, reliable and hands-on Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team at Wakehurst.
This is a great opportunity for a strong CDP, or an ambitious Commis Chef ready to take the next step, to be part of a fresh-food kitchen in one of Sussex’s most unique visitor attractions.

About the role
As Chef de Partie, you will support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in delivering fresh, seasonal food across our restaurants, cafés and events.
You will help run an allocated section, support daily preparation and service, and play a key part in maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, hygiene and consistency.
This is a hands-on role, so we are looking for someone who is happy to get stuck in, support the wider team and bring a positive attitude to the kitchen every day.
What you will be doing:
- Running an allocated kitchen section during preparation and service
- Preparing, cooking and presenting fresh food to a high standard
- Supporting food production across restaurants, cafés and events
- Maintaining consistency in taste, quality, presentation and portion control
- Supporting daily mise en place and service readiness
- Working closely with the Head Chef, Sous Chef and wider kitchen team
- Supporting Commis Chefs, Kitchen Porters and junior team members where needed
- Helping to create a positive, professional and supportive kitchen culture
- Supporting seasonal menu changes and new dish launches
- Assisting with stock rotation, labelling, date control and wastage reduction
- Following food hygiene, allergen, HACCP and health & safety procedures
- Keeping your section clean, organised and audit-ready
- Bringing ideas, energy and pride to the food we serve
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, or a strong Commis Chef ready to step up
- Experience in a fresh-food, high-volume kitchen environment
- Good cooking skills and a strong understanding of preparation and presentation
- Someone who enjoys working as part of a team
- A calm and organised approach during busy service periods
- Good communication skills
- A positive, hands-on attitude
- Good understanding of food hygiene, allergens and health & safety
- Reliability, flexibility and a strong work ethic
- A genuine passion for fresh food and delivering a great guest experience
