We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Burnley from September 2026. This full-time role will involve providing 1:1 support for a pupil in Year 4, helping them to access learning and thrive in a structured classroom environment.
This position is initially for the full academic year, with the opportunity to become a permanent role for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 tailored support to a pupil with additional needs
- Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum and engaging in lessons
- Implement strategies to support learning, behaviour, and emotional development
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow individual support plans
- Promote independence, confidence, and inclusion
- Support classroom routines and transitions throughout the day
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Essential: Experience working with children with additional needs/SEND
- A patient, nurturing, and understanding approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to adapt support strategies to meet individual needs
- A proactive and committed attitude
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification
