Clark Family Eyecare is looking for a friendly, organised and proactive Optical Assistant / Dispensing Assistant to join our small, supportive team.
We are an independent practice committed to providing excellent clinical care and a genuinely personal experience for every patient. We are looking for someone who shares this approach and takes pride in doing things well.
The person we are looking for
You will have fantastic communication skills, a friendly and professional manner, and enjoy working with people. You will be confident using computers and modern technology, with the ability to learn and navigate new systems easily.

The role
The role will include a varied mix of clinical administration and patient-facing responsibilities, including:
- Clinical administration and supporting the smooth running of the practice
- Patient pre-screening
- Stock ordering and management
- Contact lens subscription management
- Helping to ensure every patient enjoys a smooth and positive journey through the practice
- Keeping the practice clean, tidy and welcoming – something all members of our team contribute to
Dispensing experience
For applicants with previous dispensing experience, you will also be expected to confidently assist patients with frame and lens selection, taking into consideration their prescription, visual requirements and individual needs.
You should be comfortable understanding a spectacle prescription and interpreting the optometrist's recommendations in order to provide appropriate advice to patients.
Optical experience is preferred, but not essential. Full training will be provided to the right candidate.
All team members are expected to take part in ongoing training, which may include training within the practice, away from the practice and online.
What we offer
- £23,133 – £27,482 per annum, depending on experience
- 35 hours per week
- 4-week working rota
- 7pm finish on alternate Wednesdays
- Alternate Saturdays until 2pm
- 28 days' holiday, inclusive of Bank Holidays
