To provide high-quality, person-centred care to residents while supporting the day-to-day running of the home. To lead by example, supervise care staff during shifts, and ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and dignified care in line with company policies and standards set by the Care Quality Commission.
Resident Care
- Provide high standards of personal care including washing, dressing, toileting, continence care, mobility support, and nutritional support.
- Promote residents’ dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and wellbeing at all times.
- Observe, monitor, and report any changes in residents’ physical, emotional, or mental wellbeing.
- Support residents with daily activities, social engagement, and meaningful occupation.
- Provide emotional reassurance and support to residents and families.
Leadership and Shift Management
- Take responsibility for leading shifts and ensuring safe, effective care delivery.
- Allocate duties and support care staff throughout the shift.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to new and existing staff.
- Escalate concerns relating to residents, staffing, safeguarding, or health and safety to management promptly.
- Support the management team in maintaining a positive and professional working environment.
Care Planning and Documentation
- Complete daily records, care notes, incident reports, and handovers accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support with care plan reviews and updates to ensure care reflects residents’ current needs.
- Complete and review risk assessments including falls, mobility, nutrition, skin integrity, and behaviour where appropriate.
- Ensure all documentation is person-centred, accurate, and compliant.
Medication
- Administer medication safely in line with training, policies, and medication procedures.
- Complete Medication Administration Records (MAR) accurately.
- Report medication errors, omissions, or concerns immediately.
Safeguarding and Safety
- Recognise, report, and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with policy and local procedures.
- Ensure residents are protected from harm, abuse, neglect, and avoidable risk.
- Support infection prevention, moving and handling, falls prevention, and fire safety procedures.
- Report accidents, incidents, and near misses promptly.
Communication
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, colleagues, GPs, district nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in handovers, team meetings, and supervisions.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
Professional Responsibilities
- Attend mandatory training and maintain competencies.
- Work in accordance with company policies, procedures, and legislation.
- Act as a positive role model for the care team.
- Support audits, inspections, and quality improvement within the service.
General
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as requested by management, within competence and training.
Pay: £12.71-£14.00 per hour
