Project Archivist (Setting the Record Straight), fixed-term
Contract type: fixed-term, 12 months
Full time: 37 hours per week
Salary: £35,824.88 per annum

We are looking for a professionally qualified, proactive archivist to lead our Setting the Record Straight project.
This role will focus on improving access to our archives by addressing fragmentary and incomplete legacy cataloguing, particularly within York’s extensive civic collections. You will take ownership of project delivery, manage a dedicated team of Collections Care volunteers, and make a lasting impact on the accessibility of historically significant records.
The project includes work on:
- Historic freemen and strays records dating from the 18th to 20th centuries
- Key civic records documenting public order, defence and social welfare from the 19th and 20th centuries
This is a unique opportunity to work directly with some of York’s most important archives while contributing to a project that will benefit researchers for generations to come.
