Yard Supervisor & Plant Machine Operator

We're looking for a safety-focused, reliable, and motivated Yard Supervisor & Plant Machine Operator to join our Waste Transfer Station team. If you're experienced operating loading shovels, excavators, telehandlers, or similar plant machinery, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll play a vital role in keeping our waste transfer operations running efficiently by:
- Supervising daily yard operations to ensure waste is received, processed, and loaded efficiently.
- Coordinating vehicle movements and maintaining safe traffic management throughout the site.
- Providing guidance and support to plant operators, yard operatives, and visiting drivers.
- Monitoring housekeeping standards and ensuring the yard remains clean, tidy, and compliant with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Operating loading shovels, excavators, high rise grab, and other plant equipment safely and efficiently.
- Loading trailers and sorting machinery.
- Moving, sorting, and stockpiling waste and recyclable materials.
- Carrying out daily machine inspections and basic maintenance checks.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Hand sorting waste as and when required.
- Working closely with colleagues to achieve daily operational targets.
- Following all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience operating heavy plant machinery.
- Holds a valid plant operator qualification (NPORS, CPCS, or equivalent) – desirable.
- Has experience in waste, recycling, quarrying, construction, or similar industries.
- Takes pride in working safely and efficiently.
- Is reliable, hardworking, and a team player.
- Can work outdoors in all weather conditions.
