THE ROLE
We are looking for a Trainee IT Systems Administrator to join our small, busy IT team, reporting directly to the IT Manager. If you are highly motivated, have a genuine passion for technology, and hold a background or keen interest in IT from school or college, we want to hear from you! This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your technical and professional skills through hands-on, on-the-job training.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1st and 2nd-line IT support via email, phone, and face-to-face interactions.
- Support all aspects of IT infrastructure across our main site and regional locations.
- Assist other team members with exciting technical projects.
- Help deploy new installations or software updates (some occasional out-of-hours work may be required).
What we are looking for
- A background or strong interest in IT (gained through school, college, or personal projects).
- Excellent communication skills and a confident, friendly approach to helping users.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritised your workload in a busy environment.
- A willingness to learn basic coding/scripting to help us build bespoke software, reports, and automation processes.
The responsibilities
- Pro-actively monitor IT Systems through our Remote Management (RMM) software and resolve any potential issues to help ensure minimum downtime.
- Perform Daily and Weekly routines to ensure backups are rotated and systems are up to date and running as expected and reporting any issues.
- Create and update company documentation
- Maintain hardware device register and register new devices
- Working with Network management software/documentation, IP Address Management systems, Audits and Compliance
- Provide internal IT support via email, phone, face-to-face interactions, and ticketing system.
- Install, configure and maintain company Wi-Fi, laptops, servers, desktops, phones, mobiles and printers and software.
- Provide support to the other members of the team as required on issues or projects.
- On-boarding and off-boarding employees and performing office moves as required.
- Ensure asset logs and support cases are up to date.
- Work with Microsoft 365 cloud technologies as well as company ERP systems.
- Opportunities for scripting, SQL reports, software & web development and automation of systems and processes as the role progresses.
The ideal candidate
A relevant IT / Technical degree or practical work experience gained in a professional IT environment

- Driving licence
- Knowledge of databases structures and querying (SQL)
- Programming & PowerShell Scripting knowledge
- English and Maths
- Driving licence (Essential)
Progression & Performance will be monitored through regular one to one meeting with the IT Manager.
Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week.
