Fleet Supervisor
Job Purpose
Responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance and compliance of the company's fleet, consisting of vans and minibuses. The role ensures that all vehicles are safe, roadworthy and legally compliant.
- Oversee the daily operation and availability of company vans and minibuses.
- Plan and coordinate vehicle allocation to meet operational needs.
- Monitor vehicle usage and ensure efficient fleet utilisation.
- Maintain accurate records for all fleet vehicles, including mileage, servicing, repairs, inspections, and fuel consumption.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Schedule and coordinate routine servicing, MOTs, inspections, and repairs.
- Liaise with external garages, service providers, and suppliers to ensure timely maintenance.
- Conduct regular vehicle inspections to identify defects and arrange corrective action.
- Ensure all vehicles are clean, safe, and presented to a professional standard.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure compliance with all relevant road transport legislation and company policies.
- Monitor vehicle documentation, including insurance, road tax and MOT certificates
- Ensure daily and weekly vehicle safety checks are completed and recorded.
- Investigate vehicle incidents, accidents, and damage, producing reports and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Driver Management
- Support and supervise drivers in relation to vehicle care and safe driving practices.
- Monitor driver licence checks and ensure only authorised drivers operate company vehicles.
- Promote a culture of safe, responsible, and fuel-efficient driving.
- Provide guidance and training on vehicle procedures where required.
Administration
- Maintain accurate fleet records and produce reports on vehicle performance, maintenance, costs, and compliance.
- Assist with budgeting and planning for vehicle replacement programmes.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and stored securely.
About you
- Previous experience managing or supervising a vehicle fleet.
- Good understanding of vehicle maintenance schedules and transport compliance requirements.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic record-keeping systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
