Your role would be to get me out of the house as much as possible, encourage me to engage with the world again, supporting me to do things that I enjoy.
About me
I am a young man in my 20’s; following a brain tumour I now experience short term memory loss and some vision impairment. I am mobile, sometimes my walking can be slow, but I don’t need a wheelchair. I have a very loving and supportive family, including 3 siblings. I enjoy sport (Particularly football), music, social media and eating out.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To plan activities, outings and lunchtimes
- Potentially some personal care in the event of a toilet accident
- In crowded or close spaces have an awareness of where I may be
- To facilitate downtime after an activity i.e. sitting down somewhere, travelling in car.
- Will have an awareness and be prepared to offer physical assistance when required.

- Patience and a positive attitude
- Initiative to research and plan each day’s activity in advance
- Good time keeping
- A car and clean driving licence
- Positive approach and adaptability

- Experience in a similar role
- Non-smoker
Additional point to consider
- We are a smoke free home
- Employee will be responsible my mum
- I have my eyes closed a lot of the time and need frequent verbal instruction or physical support to avoid trips, falls or hazards.
- Prompts to use - look left, look right, step coming up, lamp post ahead etc
- My mobility varies a lot during the day and needs to be encouraged
- When I have my eyes closed this does not mean I am not awake, not listening, not interested or not understanding.
Summary terms and conditions
- Hours, days and times of work:
o There are 17 hours available per week
o Shifts available are: Monday 9.30am-4.30pm Wednesday 9.30am-4.30pm Friday 9.30am – 12.30pm
- Pay rate: £14.10
- Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement).
- Expenses: You will be reimbursed for prior agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.
- Sick pay: I do not operate a private sick pay scheme but provided you meet the eligibility criteria, you may be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).
- Pension: I do not operate a private pension scheme but I will fulfil my statutory obligations via the NEST pension scheme.
