Griffin Glasshouses has been designing and hand-building bespoke aluminium glasshouses since the late 1970s. We're a UK based manufacturer, with a small, dedicated team, and every glasshouse we make starts with a personal consultation and a site survey — no two are quite the same.

The Role
We're looking for a junior technician to join our small design team and help turn client briefs and site survey measurements into accurate, buildable technical drawings for our bespoke glasshouses. You'll work closely with our senior designer, sales team and installation crews, so this is a genuinely hands-on introduction to how a bespoke structure goes from a customer's first enquiry to something standing in their garden. It's a great next step for someone with some CAD experience who wants to develop into a full design role within a business where the work is varied and the output is tangible.
Key Responsibilities
- Producing accurate CAD drawings and technical specifications for bespoke aluminium glasshouses from client briefs and site survey data
- Working with the senior designer to develop and refine bespoke layouts, glazing configurations and structural details
- Checking site survey measurements against drawings and flagging discrepancies before production
- Liaising with clients and the sales team to clarify design requirements and explain options
- Supporting the production and installation teams with clear, accurate drawings and specifications
- Maintaining and updating our glasshouse options and specification records as designs evolve
What We're Looking For
- Some experience with CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, or Fusion 360) gained through study, a placement or work experience
- A relevant qualification (e.g. in design, architecture, engineering or a related field) or equivalent hands-on experience
- A methodical, detail-focused approach — small measurement errors matter in bespoke structural work
- Good communication skills and confidence discussing design details with clients and colleagues
- An interest in horticulture, architecture or garden design is a plus, though not essential
- A full UK driving licence is required, as the role may occasionally involve site visits
