Leak Detection Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Leak Detection Engineer to join a growing business and play an important role in delivering high-quality leak detection services across the UK.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are quite the same. You’ll be visiting domestic and commercial properties, using specialist equipment and your technical knowledge to identify the source of leaks with as little disruption to the property as possible.
You’ll work independently across a range of sites while dealing directly with customers, insurers, loss adjusters and property managers, so strong technical and communication skills are equally important.
What you'll be doing

Carrying out accurate leak detection surveys across residential and commercial properties

Using specialist equipment including acoustic listening devices, tracer gas, thermal imaging and moisture meters

Diagnosing the source of leaks using non-invasive techniques

Producing clear and detailed reports, including findings, photographs and recommendations

Communicating confidently with customers and other stakeholders on site

Liaising with insurers, claims handlers and property managers where required

Managing your own workload and appointments effectively

Maintaining and caring for company vehicles, tools and specialist equipment

Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with relevant health and safety requirements
What we're looking for
You’ll ideally have previous experience in leak detection, although candidates with a strong background in plumbing, heating or building diagnostics may also be considered.
We're looking for someone who has:

Proven experience in leak detection or a relevant technical trade

A good understanding of plumbing, heating systems and water supply networks

Experience using specialist leak detection equipment

Thermography – Level 1 minimum

Good knowledge of building construction

Strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail

The ability to work independently and manage your own workload

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Good IT skills, including the ability to complete reports and use job management/workflow systems

The ability to communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders at all levels

Ideally, Gas Safe registration

A full clean UK driving licence
An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing, or a relevant trade qualification, would be advantageous. Industry-specific leak detection training or certifications are also welcomed.
