We are looking for an exceptional, sparky and inspirational person to join our team.
The SEND Teaching Assistant’s initial responsibility is to assist the class teacher with the educational, emotional and physical development of a child with SEND, working within the overall ethos of the school.
Relationships
- To establish a working relationship with the child such that they feel confident and valued.
- To be sensitive to the needs of each individual and to respond positively to them.
- To encourage each child to develop their own ideas, personality and interests and to recognise that their contribution is valued.
- Liaise and communicate effectively with others and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- To liaise with parents and guardians in consultation with class teacher.
- To work alongside and implement strategies set up by outside agencies e.g. Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and specialist teachers, as directed by the SENCO.
Organisation – Curriculum
- To implement and deliver planned programmes of work, involving direct teaching of small groups or individuals appropriate to the child’s level.
- To prepare equipment and materials for use for in these sessions, to update records on a daily or weekly basis.
