We are currently seeking an experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving our manufacturing operations within a fast-paced production environment.
Shift Pattern – 3 Shift Rotation
- Early Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm
- Back Shift: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 10:00pm
- Night Shift: Sunday – Friday, 10:00pm – 6:00am
The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Lead Technician / Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving all machinery, services, and facilities across our Gateshead site to maximise productivity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out breakdown repairs and planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Recording maintenance work within the M3 PPM system
- Supporting root cause analysis and implementing improvements
- Maintaining electrical systems in line with current legislation
- Completing permits and risk assessments and ensuring safe handback to production
- Managing spare parts usage and stock control
- Assisting with installation, modification, and improvement of machinery and building services
- Working closely with Production to support daily output targets
- Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety standards
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a practical, proactive problem solver with a flexible attitude and a strong team ethic.
Essential Qualifications:
- Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
Essential Experience & Skills:
- Electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience
- Experience within a manufacturing or factory environment
- Familiarity with PLCs, inverters, servo and DC drives, and instrumentation
- Strong problem-solving ability and organisational skills
- Able to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Good communication skills and a team-focused approach
- Flexible attitude towards shift work and overtime
- Strong commitment to Health & Safety
Desirable:
- Engineering apprenticeship, BTEC or HNC
- 18th Edition
- 2394-01 Verification & Testing
- Experience in food manufacturing
- Steam boilers and systems knowledge
- M3 system experience
- IOSH or other H&S qualification
- Food Hygiene qualification
