We're looking for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Area 13 M&R team based in Lancashire.
Location: Preston - Garstang, PR3 0PL
Hours: 4 on, 4 off days & nights shift pattern, 12 hrs per day

Join our Area 13 M&R team working across the motorways and trunk roads in Cumbria and North Lancashire. You'll be part of a dedicated team delivering routine and cyclic maintenance, winter service, emergency response and reactive repair works. This is a varied role where you'll be making a real difference to the road network, supporting road users and keeping our highways safe and well-maintained.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you'll be working within the Area 13 M&R team, supporting them in delivering essential maintenance and emergency response across the network. Your day to day will include:
- Carrying out routine maintenance activities including grass strimming, litter picking, sign cleaning and marker post replacement
- Installing, maintaining and removing temporary traffic management where required
- Undertaking severe weather duties such as gritting and flood clearance
- Responding to incidents and working with Highways England to clear scenes quickly and safely
- Promoting health and safety in the workplace and championing wellbeing within your team
