Business Development & Strategy Manager – HealthcareElixir Medics
Location: Hybrid / flexible
Hours: 2–3 days per week

About Elixir Medics
Elixir Medics is a rapidly growing private healthcare provider delivering high-quality, consultant-led mental health services, including services commissioned through NHS contracts.
We are looking for an experienced, commercially minded Business Development & Strategy Manager to help shape and deliver the next phase of our growth.
This is a strategic role for someone who understands healthcare, NHS commissioning and commercial development — and who can turn strategy into measurable growth, new contracts and increased capacity.
You will work closely with the leadership team and take ownership of identifying new opportunities, developing commissioner relationships, strengthening our commercial performance and building a clear 12-month growth strategy.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for six key areas:
1. NHS & ICB Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with NHS commissioners, ICBs and other key stakeholders.
- Identify upcoming opportunities across ADHD, autism, mental health and related services.
- Monitor NHS procurement, tenders, frameworks and expressions of interest.
- Lead the preparation of bids, tenders and expressions of interest.
- Develop relationships across Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, London and surrounding areas.
- Identify waiting-list initiatives, additional-capacity requirements and other opportunities for independent-sector delivery.
- Develop and maintain a clear pipeline of NHS and healthcare opportunities.
2. Business Performance & KPI Dashboard
You will establish and maintain a clear performance dashboard, ensuring the leadership team has an accurate understanding of the business every month.
Key metrics will include:
- Referrals
- Assessments
- Waiting times
- DNA rates
- Clinical capacity
- Clinician utilisation
- Titration activity
- Revenue per patient
- Patient satisfaction
- Google reviews
- Clinical and service outcomes
- Overall revenue and growth
You will turn data into insight, recommendations and action rather than simply producing reports.
3. Marketing & Patient Growth
Work with specialist marketing agencies and content creators to develop and implement a measurable growth strategy across:
- Google and Google Ads
- SEO
- Website optimisation
- Instagram and Reels
- Patient education
- Clinician profiles
- Online reviews and reputation management
- Referral campaigns
- Digital patient acquisition
The focus will be on generating high-quality referrals and measurable return on marketing investment.
4. New Service Development
Identify and assess opportunities for Elixir Medics to expand into new clinical and commercial areas, potentially including:
ADHD → Autism → Memory Services → General Psychiatry → Community Mental Health → Digital Mental Health
You will assess each opportunity from both a clinical and commercial perspective, considering:
- Market demand
- NHS commissioning opportunities
- Competition
- Regulatory requirements
- Clinical workforce requirements
- Operational capacity
- Financial viability
- Long-term strategic value
5. Commercial Analysis
- Analyse revenue, costs, margins and revenue per patient.
- Develop financial and capacity models.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
- Assess the commercial viability of new contracts and services.
- Support pricing and contract negotiations.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends.
- Provide clear commercial recommendations to the leadership team.
6. Strategic Planning
Develop and maintain a 12-month business growth plan for Elixir Medics.
You will report to the leadership team monthly on:
- Progress against strategic objectives
- New business opportunities
- NHS/ICB pipeline
- Financial performance
- Marketing performance
- Capacity and utilisation
- New service opportunities
- Key risks and opportunities
- Priorities for the following month
