Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Team Leader for Children’s Residential Care to oversee daily operations within a care home environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, and supporting children in a safe and nurturing setting. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and a compassionate approach to child welfare. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young people's lives while working within a supportive team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of care staff to ensure the delivery of personalised care plans tailored to each child's needs.
- Oversee daily routines and activities within the residential setting, maintaining a safe and positive environment.
- Support children with their emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs, promoting their well-being and independence.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child protection and safeguarding.
- Facilitate effective communication between staff, children, families, and external agencies to promote collaborative care.
- Assist with the development and review of care plans in partnership with social workers and other professionals.
- Organise staff rotas, monitor performance, and provide coaching or training where necessary to maintain high standards of care.
- Drive organisational initiatives aimed at improving service quality and team cohesion.
- Maintain accurate records of care activities, incidents, and progress reports in accordance with organisational policies.
Skills
- Proven supervisory experience within a childrens care home or childcare environment, particularly involving families in need and children in care
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, essential for liaising with children, families, colleagues, and external agencies.
- Competence in developing and managing care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Valid driving licence is desirable for transporting children or attending external meetings or appointments.
- Good IT skills for maintaining accurate documentation and reporting systems.
- Knowledge of child protection legislation and safeguarding procedures.
- Supervision of collwagues and reflective practices
- Compassionate approach with the ability to remain calm under pressure while managing challenging behaviours effectively.
- Shifts 1 day on 2 days off with sleep in duties 08.00 till 23.00 awake working
Pay: £28,420.00-£42,181.82 per year
