GMP Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of an award-winning luxury resort in Cornwall for an experienced and commercially driven Hotel Manager to join its senior leadership team.
This is one of the South West's leading destination resorts, offering a diverse hospitality operation incorporating luxury accommodation, Food & Beverage, spa, health and fitness, conferences and events.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hotel operator to play a key role in the continued growth and development of the resort, leading a talented management team and driving operational, commercial and financial performance.
The Role
As Hotel Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and operational performance of the resort, working closely with the Resort Director and senior leadership team to deliver the business plan, financial targets and highest standards of guest experience.
You will lead across all key hotel departments, ensuring the entire operation works together to deliver an exceptional guest experience while achieving strong commercial and financial results.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the management, performance and operational delivery of the resort.
- Lead the development and implementation of annual business plans, budgets and operational strategies.
- Take ownership of the hotel's Profit & Loss performance and deliver agreed revenue and profitability targets.
- Drive sales across accommodation, Food & Beverage, spa, health & fitness, conferences and banqueting.
- Maximise guest spend and identify opportunities to increase revenue across all areas of the resort.
- Maintain and continuously improve operational standards, service quality and guest satisfaction.
- Lead, motivate and develop a strong and high-performing management team.
- Oversee recruitment, training, development and retention across the operation.
- Manage labour budgets effectively and ensure staffing costs remain aligned with targets.
- Champion the resort's culture, values and service standards.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, housekeeping, maintenance and property presentation.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, health & safety, fire safety and relevant legislation.
- Maintain strong financial controls, stock management and procurement procedures.
- Develop efficient processes and systems to improve operational performance and profitability.
- Use management information and business data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the resort in achieving industry awards, accreditations and recognition.
- Develop the local market and maximise commercial opportunities.
- Ensure the operation consistently reflects the resort's brand standards and positioning.
About You
- Proven experience at Hotel Manager, Operations Manager, General Manager or equivalent senior level.
- Strong experience within a busy, leisure-focused hotel or resort environment.
- Previous experience managing a sizeable hotel operation, ideally 40+ bedrooms.
- Broad operational knowledge across multiple hotel departments.
- Strong Food & Beverage and Front of House management experience.
- Proven experience managing a hotel P&L, budgets, labour costs and commercial performance.
- Strong sales and revenue focus combined with excellent cost-control awareness.
- Exceptional leadership and people-management skills.
- Proven track record of building, motivating and developing high-performing teams.
- A natural leader who leads by example and inspires confidence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and organisational abilities.
- Quality-focused with experience of introducing and maintaining high operational standards.
- Commercially astute, ambitious and results-driven.
- Highly personable, professional and confident.
- Passionate about hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Previous experience within a spa, health club or leisure operation would be advantageous.
- Experience within a 4-star, AA Red Star or similarly high-quality property would be advantageous.
- Knowledge or experience of Cornwall and the South West would be beneficial.
