Crown Oil is a £400m turnover, privately owned, multi-entity group continuing to invest in its finance function. As a result of continued growth and increasing operational complexity, we are looking to appoint an additional Financial Controller to strengthen our finance leadership team.
Reporting directly to the Finance Director and working alongside an established Financial Controller, you will play a key role in leading the finance function. This is a hands-on leadership position where you will take ownership of a broad operational finance remit, lead your own team and help drive continuous improvement across the business.
This opportunity is ideally suited to someone who enjoys working within a high-volume, operational environment, combining strong financial control with a commercial, hands-on approach.
You will be responsible for:
Leading, developing, and mentoring a finance team.
Oversee the production of accurate and timely management accounts.
Managing month-end and year-end reporting.
Supporting statutory accounts, audit, and tax processes.
Cash flow forecasting, stock funding, and liquidity management.
Strengthening financial controls and driving process improvements.
Supporting the Finance Director with strategic finance initiatives and ongoing business growth.
We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with a strong operational finance background and a hands-on approach.
You will ideally bring:
Previous experience as a Financial Controller
Experience leading and developing a team of qualified and part-qualified finance professionals.
Strong management accounting, financial reporting, and financial controls experience.
Experience within a high-volume, multi-entity operational business.
An SME mindset—you will be comfortable rolling up your sleeves, taking ownership, and supporting the wider business.
A collaborative approach with a passion for improving processes and supporting continued growth.
You will join a business where finance is a genuine commercial partner to the wider organisation, working closely with the Finance Director, Financial Controller, and senior leadership team. The role has been created to support the continued expansion and increasing complexity of the group, giving you the opportunity to make a significant impact while developing your career within a successful and ambitious business.
