Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Transport and Distribution Clerk and Assistant to support our logistics operations. Duties
- Utilise transportation management systems (TMS) to schedule, monitor, and optimise shipments.
- Assist with shipping and receiving tasks, ensuring accurate documentation and timely processing of goods.
- Support supply chain activities, including inventory control and coordination with third-party logistics providers (3PL).
- Enter data accurately into systems such as AS400 and SyteLine to track shipments, inventory levels, and order status.
- Analyse logistics data to identify efficiencies or issues, providing reports for management review.
- Maintain organised records of all transportation activities, including delivery schedules and shipment documentation.
- Communicate effectively with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams using professional phone etiquette and clear written correspondence.
- Support the analysis of supply chain processes to improve overall operational efficiency.
- Assist with general administrative tasks related to logistics operations such as filing, data entry, and report generation.
- Fulfill delivery requirements when needed.
Skills
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics software such as AS400 and SyteLine.
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles and third-party logistics (3PL) operations.
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret logistical data and recommend improvements.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with internal teams, carriers, and suppliers.
- Accurate data entry skills with attention to detail in maintaining shipment records.
- Good typing speed for efficient documentation and report preparation.
- Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures along with inventory management practices.
- Professional phone etiquette for handling inquiries related to shipments or deliveries. Pay: £24,420.00-£43,644.05 per year
