The Role:
- Plan daily transport operations for Ward operated vehicles and Sub Contractor Hauliers.
- Build and maintain relationships with 3rd party hauliers
- Liaise with drivers and internal sites to ensure smooth running of collections and deliveries.
- Monitor vehicles and respond to delays or issues.
- Ensure legal, safety and company standards are met, including vehicle and driver compliance
- Some communication with customers, providing updates etc if required.
- Support the team with ad hoc tasks where necessary.
- Using Microsoft Package including Sharepoint and bespoke software.
The Skills:
- Proven experience in transport planning is essential
- Experience with the waste management sector is preferred but not essential
- Great communication with both internal colleagues and external customers and hauliers
- Ability to work as a team and individually
- Proficient in Excel and other computer systems
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Great problem-solving abilities
- Flexibility and good multi tasking skills
- Great telephone manner
- Good geographical knowledge
- An eagerness to develop and maintain relationships with both internal and external hauliers and colleagues
- Administration skills with the utmost attention to detail
Bonus if you have:
- Experience in a transport or logistics environment
- Knowledge of the Working Time Directive & EU Driver Hours rules
- Familiarity with transport planning systems or telematics platforms
Hours & Flexibility
You’ll work k within our transport planning window of 07:00 – 17:00, with some flexibility needed depending on workload and operational needs.
