Job Summary
We need an experienced Chef for our care home in West Lothian, someone who can deliver a great dining experience to our residents.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, with the ability to create interesting and popular dishes that reflect our residents cultural backgrounds but also interest and engage them to try new and different foods.
You will play a crucial role in supervising kitchen operations, ensuring that all meals are prepared to the highest standards and maintain a positive and efficient working environment, all within the homes budgets
Summary:
You will be responsible for costing and delivering 3 meals per day and providing a range of snacks, treats and healthy options, along with nutritious menu choices for our residents. Your food will need to be wholesome, appealing and nutritionally balanced, and meet the needs of all our residents
- Ideally you will hold a current HACCP qualification
- Have experience of developing nutritious and appealing menus for our residents.
- The food that you produce must be in line with nutritional guidelines and you must have some knowledge of textured diets, for those requiring food fortification and those with special diets i.e. diabetic, low sugar, high fibre etc.
- You will be required to produce 3 meals a day including preparation for supper and home baking.
- You will be responsible for the monthly budget and food ordering. You will also be responsible for the EHO requirements and paperwork for the kitchen.

Duties
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth food production and service.
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes in accordance with menu specifications.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Plan and develop menus in consultation with our manager and care team incorporating seasonal ingredients, and local favourites.
- Monitor inventory levels, placing orders for supplies as needed to ensure consistent food production.
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure a seamless service delivery.
- Implement cost control measures to minimise waste while maintaining quality standards.
