Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Decon Assistant, where your expertise will ensure the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the thorough cleaning, sterilization, and preparation of dental instruments and equipment, supporting a smooth and efficient dental practice. Your dedication to patient care and organizational skills will help create a safe environment for both patients and staff, contributing to exceptional dental services. This position will also include Reception and administration cover where necessary.
Duties
- Perform meticulous cleaning, sterilization, and packaging of dental instruments following strict infection control protocols
- Prepare dental equipment and materials in readiness for clinical procedures
- Monitor and maintain sterilization equipment, ensuring all devices are functioning correctly and logs are accurately recorded
- Assist in managing inventory levels of sterilized instruments and supplies to prevent shortages
- Support the clinical team by ensuring all decontamination processes are completed efficiently and timely
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper disposal of contaminated waste
- Communicate effectively with dental staff regarding instrument readiness and decontamination status
- Booking appointments and taking payments
- Checking patients in at the desk
Requirements
- Proven experience in a healthcare setting, preferably within dentistry or a similar environment involving infection control preferred but not essential
- Excellent communication skills in English for clear documentation and team collaboration
- Proficiency with IT systems used for record keeping, inventory management, and sterilization tracking
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks accurately under pressure
- Ability to follow detailed protocols precisely while maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety
- Relevant nursing or healthcare qualification is preferred but not mandatory
