Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organised Community Assistant to support the daily operations of our community centre. This paid role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for administrative tasks and community engagement. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of activities, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining effective communication within the centre. Prior office, retail experience and computer skills are essential to excel in this position.
Duties
- To be customer focused helping and supporting the community, tenants and other centre users.
- To ‘Meet and Greet’ within the Community Hub supporting, signposting and serving customers.
- To assist with sorting stock, stock control and displaying stock within the Community Store and Charity Shop.
- To support online sales through various platforms.
- To deliver Walsall Connected services to the local community.
- To set up rooms and prepare the centre for activities and hiring's, including moving furniture, cleaning duties and returning rooms back to the previous standard in preparation for the next usage.
- To positively and actively promote New Horizons and Bloxwich Community Partnership including all services, activities and centres.
- To undertake necessary and appropriate training including Safeguarding, First Aid, Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and Walsall Connected.
- To undertake day to day administrative duties and general record keeping.
- To attend regular staff meetings.
- To undertake other such relevant duties applicable to the grade and purpose as may be determined by the agreement between the post holder and management.
Experience
- Previous office, administrative or customer service experience is required
- Retail Experience is required
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and TEAMS
- Good phone etiquette and communication skills to interact professionally with community members
- Familiarity with clerical tasks such as emailing, photocopying, and managing schedules
- Experience in a customer facing role
