At Gist, part of the M&S Group, we’re looking for experienced Class 1 Drivers to join our team at Thatcham, helping us keep M&S stores supplied every day.
You’ll have regular work, consistent hours, a modern fleet and the benefits that come with being part of the wider M&S family – all backed by a transport team that knows how important our drivers are to the operation.
The role at a glance
- Pay: £24.37 per hour
- Location: Thatcham
- Experience: Minimum 18 months' Class 1 driving experience
Find a routine that works for you
We currently have opportunities across the following working patterns:
- Hours: Full-time 40 hours per week
- Rota: Any 5 out of 7 rota
- Start times: 01:45 - 02:15
or
- Hours: Part-time 24 hours per week
- Rota: Thu, Fri, Sat or Fri, Sat, Sun
- Start times: Any time between 12:00 and 18:00
Additional shift premiums may apply depending on your working pattern.
What you'll be doing
Store Deliveries
As one of our Class 1 Drivers, you'll play an important role in keeping M&S moving.
You'll be completing store deliveries, making sure products arrive safely, efficiently and on time while providing a professional service at every location.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Completing planned deliveries to M&S stores
- Carrying out vehicle and safety checks
- Completing relevant delivery paperwork
- Working safely and efficiently to planned schedules
- Keeping in touch with our transport team throughout your shift
- Representing Gist and M&S professionally on the road and at stores

What we're looking for
You'll need:
- A valid Class 1 (C+E) licence
- A minimum of 18 months' Class 1 driving experience
- Valid Driver CPC
- A driving record that meets our internal safety and compliance standards
- A professional and safety-focused approach
- A reliable, team-focused attitude
- Confidence with manual handling where required
