Healthcare Assistant (HCA) The Borchardt Medical Centre
Location: Withington, Manchester, M20
Hours: 16 hours, Monday and Tuesday 8am - 4pm
Salary: £13.50-£14.00ph dependant on experience
About Us - The Borchardt Medical centre is a friendly, patient-focused General Practice committed to delivering high-quality primary care services to our local community. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our clinical team and support the delivery of excellent patient care.
Main Duties and Responsibilities - The successful candidate will work under the supervision of our nursing team and GPs to provide a range of clinical and administrative duties, including:
- Phlebotomy (taking blood samples)
- NHS Health Checks
- Recording vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, and BMI
- ECGs
- New patient health checks
- Smoking cessation support
- Chaperoning duties
- Vaccination and immunisation support
- Stock management and clinical room preparation
- Maintaining accurate patient records using the practice clinical system
- Supporting infection prevention and control procedures
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within a GP Practice, Primary Care, Community, or Hospital setting
- Competent in phlebotomy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Good IT skills and experience using electronic patient records
- Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding requirements
Desirable Requirements
- Care Certificate or NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care
- Experience conducting NHS Health Checks
- Experience using EMIS Web or SystmOne
- Experience in primary care settings
