Overview
We are seeking an experienced, motivated and child‑centred Day Nursery Manager to lead our term‑time nursery. The ideal candidate will bring strong management experience, excellent knowledge of EYFS, and practical experience in Forest School practice to support high‑quality outdoor learning. As a key leader within the nursery, you will inspire your team, build strong relationships with families, and promote a safe, engaging space where children can thrive and develop their full potential. As Nursery Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, management and day‑to‑day running of the nursery. You will ensure outstanding care, safeguarding, and learning experiences for all children, while leading and supporting a dedicated staff team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the nursery team, providing guidance, support, and motivation to deliver exceptional childcare services
- Oversee daily activities to ensure they align with early childhood education standards and regulatory requirements
- Develop and implement curriculum plans that promote learning through play, creativity, and exploration
- Build positive relationships with children’s families, communicating effectively about their child's progress and well-being
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and licensing standards
- Manage administrative tasks such as staff scheduling, record keeping, and reporting to ensure smooth nursery operations
- Foster an inclusive, welcoming environment that encourages diversity and supports individual developmental needs
Requirements
- Full and relevant minimum Level 3 qualification essential.
- Managerial experience required.
- Proven management experience within a childcare or nursery setting, demonstrating leadership capabilities
- Extensive experience working directly with children in early childhood education or childcare roles
- Strong understanding of nursery practices, child development principles, and safeguarding procedures
- Excellent communication skills in English to effectively liaise with staff, parents, and external agencies
- Ability to lead a team confidently while maintaining high standards of care and professionalism
- Valid driving license is preferred for operational flexibility or community engagement activities
