General Maintenance Technician

HAL FM Ltd are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated R&R / General Maintenance Technician to join our growing team working across our nationwide retail portfolio.
The role will involve carrying out a mixture of planned Repair & Refresh (R&R) works and reactive general maintenance across retail stores throughout the UK. Whilst the role will cover a variety of maintenance tasks, we are particularly looking for candidates with strong painting & decorating and basic joinery experience, as these will form a significant part of the workload.
Typical works will include painting and decorating, making good damaged areas, wall and ceiling repairs, silicone works, basic joinery repairs, door adjustments, minor flooring repairs, reactive maintenance tasks, and supporting wider store refurbishment projects. The successful candidate must be capable of maintaining a high standard of finish whilst working efficiently within live retail environments.
The role will involve regular travel and overnight stays depending on work locations, with occasional nightshift working required to allow works to be completed outside of trading hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned R&R and reactive maintenance works across retail stores
- Complete painting, decorating, and basic joinery works to a high standard
- Undertake general maintenance and repair tasks as required
- Ensure all works are completed safely and professionally
- Communicate effectively with management and store teams
- Complete job reports, photographs, and required paperwork accurately
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and presentation on site
Requirements:
- Previous general maintenance experience essential
- Strong painting & decorating experience required
- Basic joinery experience preferred
- Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Full UK driving licence required
- Comfortable travelling and working away when required
- Flexible approach to working hours including occasional nightshift works
Preferred Experience:
- Retail or commercial maintenance experience
- Experience working within live retail environments
- Multi-trade background advantageous
