Job Overview
We are seeking a driven and commercially focused Business Development Manager to develop the growth of cleaning machinery sales across South Wales.
This role will focus on selling a range of professional cleaning equipment, particularly I-Team machines (e.g. floor scrubbers, sweepers, vacuum systems, and other janitorial machinery) to commercial customers.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business, managing a pipeline of opportunities, conducting product demonstrations, and building long-term relationships with clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a regional sales strategy to grow cleaning machinery sales across South Wales.
- Identify, approach, and win new business opportunities within sectors such as:
- Facilities management companies
- Manufacturing & industrial sites
- Healthcare & education
- Retail & hospitality
- Promote and sell Newhall’s range of cleaning machinery, matching solutions to customer needs and budgets.
- Conduct on-site demonstrations and trials of equipment to showcase performance and value.
- Build and manage a strong sales pipeline, including lead generation through:
- Cold calling
- Networking
- Referrals
- Existing customer base
- Produce quotes and proposals tailored to customer requirements.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth delivery, installation, and after-sales support.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing customers to drive:
- Repeat machinery purchases
- Upgrades and replacements
- Monitor competitor offerings, pricing, and market trends within the machinery sector.
- Meet and exceed monthly and annual sales and margin targets.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven track record in field sales, ideally within:
- Cleaning machinery
- Capital equipment
- Industrial or technical sales
- Strong demonstration and presentation skills (essential for machinery sales)
- Ability to understand customer requirements and recommend technical solutions
- Excellent negotiation and closing ability
- Self-motivated, target-driven, and comfortable working independently in a field-based role
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across South Wales
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience with floor cleaning equipment or machinery
- Knowledge of leasing, hire, or service agreements
- Existing network within South Wales commercial sectors
