Blind Fitter and Workroom Assistant
Hours: Flexible - 2 to 5 days per week (open to discussion)
Location: Orpington, Kent + travel to customer sites
Are you the kind of person who walks into a room and just knows what needs doing?
Do you take real pride in practical work and care about doing it right, every time?
Are you looking for a varied role where you'll be trusted, valued, and never bored?
If so, this could be a rare and exciting opportunity for you.
Hue House is a long-established, design-led interiors business based in Orpington, with over 60 years’ experience delivering bespoke internal and external shading solutions. We design, hand-make and install high-quality curtains, blinds and automation systems for homeowners, interior designers and architects across the South East.
We work in stunning homes with high-quality products, and everything we do is done to the highest standard. As the business continues to grow, we're looking for a practical, personable individual to join our small, close-knit team and take on the fitting and installation of our blinds.
We're not looking for someone with a specific CV. We're looking for the right person, practical, reliable, someone who takes pride in their work and is genuinely good with people.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Fitting and installing blinds, tracks, and window shading systems in customers' homes and commercial properties
- Carrying out measuring appointments to ensure a precise fit
- Supporting workshop production — helping with preparation, cutting, and finishing
- Handling deliveries, organising materials, and keeping the workspace clean and efficient
- Representing Hue House professionally at all customer touchpoints
- General operational support as the business needs — no two days will be the same
What We’re Looking For
Your background is less important than your attitude. You might have come from trades, maintenance, installation, fitting or somewhere else entirely. What matters is:
- You're practical and confident using tools, you can look at a job and figure out what's needed
- You take pride in the standard of your work, as if you were doing it in your own home
- You're a natural people person, warm, professional, and easy to have in your space
- You're reliable, when you say you'll be there, you're there
- You're comfortable working independently and managing your own time on site
- You have a full UK driving licence
What We Offer
- A supportive, friendly working environment within a long-established local business
- A hands-on, role with real autonomy and flexibility
- Van and tools provided for all site work
- A genuine variety of work, fitting, measuring, workshop and customer visits
- A calm, creative atmosphere that values craftsmanship, reliability and care
- Competitive daily rate or salary, discussed openly at interview
- 22 days holiday plus bank holidays
- The chance to work with high-quality materials on genuinely bespoke projects
What Success Looks Like:
- Clients consistently have a great experience, feeling looked after from the moment we arrive
- Fittings are completed to a high standard, on time, and with care
- You have become a trusted, valued member of a small team that works well together
If this sounds like you, or like someone you know, we'd love to hear from you.
